NELA Youth is launching a new Mental Wellness Screening Program designed to help identify emotional and behavioral concerns in youth early, so families can respond with wisdom, support, and faith-centered guidance.
This program is not clinical, medical, or diagnostic in nature. NELA Youth does not provide therapy, psychiatric services, medical treatment, or clinical evaluations. Our screenings are simple, structured wellness check-ins intended to help mentors recognize signs of emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, trauma exposure, or suicidal thoughts. The purpose is awareness — not diagnosis.
At NELA Youth, we believe true healing begins in the heart. Our primary focus is spiritual encouragement, biblical truth, mentorship, and Christ-centered support. We provide prayer, discipleship, life-skills mentoring, and a safe environment where youth can talk openly. We believe that identity, hope, and restoration are found in Jesus Christ.
When a screening indicates that a child may need additional professional support beyond our scope, we will communicate directly with the parent or guardian. We will share our observations and encourage families to seek licensed counselors, mental health professionals, or appropriate community resources. We do not replace professional care — we help families recognize when it may be needed.
This program strengthens families by:
- Identifying concerns early
- Opening communication between youth and parents
- Providing spiritual guidance and mentorship
- Connecting families with appropriate outside resources when necessary
NELA Youth remains committed to serving the whole child — spiritually, emotionally, and socially — while honoring clear boundaries between mentorship and medical care.
Our goal is simple:
To help young people find hope, healing, and stability through Jesus Christ while equipping parents with the information they need to support their child’s wellbeing.
